Happy New Year

This is what we sent as our Christmas card this year for all those we didn't get one to. Here are some updates on the fam:

Mira is the sweetest, happiest and mellowest baby I've ever met. She is so cute and cracks us up with her stern looks. She adores her big brother and watches him like a hawk. He loves to get in her face and laugh which just cracks her up. He can get more laughs out of her than anyone. Lately she has started chirping and laughing when we look at her when she is sitting in the swing to get us to pick her up. It is pretty adorable and irresistable. She is getting really adept at grabbing things with her hand and playing the toy piano at grandma's. She already looks like she might be a leftie! We can't imagine our family without her.

Calvin is as usual lively and hilarious. His latest thing is to talk and make gestures like a baby. It sounds like "nyum, nyum" and I understand him less than when he actually couldn't talk. He also seems to genuinely be outgrowing naps {sigh} and so we've compromised on 1 hour of quiet play in his room which he does pretty well at and helps me keep my sanity/naps. Usually he plays with the digger and bulldozer puzzle pieces and runs them all over the room. Lately he has also been playing with his Santa Pez dispenser and flying it around. He loves to have me tell him how Santa flies with his reindeer and brings presents and eats milk and cookies. Christmas 2009- watch out.

Sean is working as a financial analyst at a local corporation. He is the budget guru in his department and is always telling me stuff about "head counts" which usually goes over my head. He works closeby so we get to see him for lunch everyday and he never has to go out of town *yay!* He lives for his summer softball league and for Saturday football games when he can get the guys together. Calvin wants to be just like his Dada- drive his pickup truck, play with his paintball gun...and he always wants to eat anything Dada is eating (chicken nuggets, chocolate muffins- what two-year old wouldn't?). He is a wonderful husband and father and we're lucky to have him.

Anna is entertaining kids all week long. Her own Monday through Saturday and then the kids at church with songs on Sundays. She, of course, loves her family to pieces and is on a crusade to make sure her children know that the Gospel is the most important thing in the world. She recently took two classes- Sociology and Family Nutrition (after just having a baby) to finish her associate's degree. Her favorite thing ever is strapping the kids in the double stroller and going on long walks in the neighborhood. She loves her life.

I find it truly remarkable that after 2 years of badgering Nat to get a blog, she finally does and then you find me thru hers!! THAT is a miracle, and a happy one. I've often wondered how you were and the blog is genius for catching me up on your lovely life! So happy you found me!
Now we'll keep in touch.

p.s. I am seriously SHOCKED at your kids' names! I thought I was the only person in the world with BOTH of those in my top 5 lists! LOVE THEM!

I used to love pushing my kids in the double stroller too... unfortunately with three it is a constant battle. Either all three of them want to ride (which creates problems) or none of them want to (which creates bigger problems). Enjoy it while it lasts! It is so fun to be in touch with you again. You have such a beautiful family.

yay!!!! i saw a comment from "anna" and i thought: "i hope that's the *anna* i think it is?!" AND IT IS!!!!! YAY!

and then i get on here to make a comment and it's like a laurel class reunion!

my parents sent me your christmas card or birth announcement or something of yesteryear, so i knew you had a calvin. sweet name. after we named our boy simon our friends said the next should be calvin.

love your slung sweet sleeping baby picture.

oh, this is fun. i'm so glad to have you back in my life.

last thing: i love long neighborhood walks too. but natalie's right, three can cause problems, unless the biggest will take a turn pushing--that's nice. for the longest time i just kept our single stroller and would sling the babe. good for crowded places.

and, finally, yay.

now if i can just get an invite to natalie's blog . . .
